Lion city (Singapore, 8/22-25)

Mar lion, the most famous sculpture in Singapore!! I asked Lee and her BF to take me there. In the 13th-century Malay Annals, Sang Nila Utama, a prince from Palembang was shipwrecked and washed ashore to an island. There he saw a creature which he believed was a lion. So he named the island "Singa Pura" which means "Lion City" in Malay, from which the name Singapore was derived.

シンガポールと言ったら、なんといってもこのマー・ライオンでしょ。リーとリーの彼氏にお願いして連れていってもらいました。１３世紀、Sang Nila Utamaという王様がPalembangから、船が難破したためある島に流されきました。そこで、彼は、ライオンをこの島で発見し、この島をSinga Pura （マレー語でライオンの町）と名づけました。これが、「シンガポール」の名前の由来です。
